Getting your website to perform is not easy. There is a lot of junk information online about conversion rate optimisation (CRO). I especially love the information that suggests its as easy as changing the colour of a button.
Conversion Rate Optimisation is about analysing the data produced from Google Analytics and other web analytics tools to determine trends in visitor activity. It also includes using visitor surveys and running tests to determine what is best for your specific website.
There is no 'best practice' for conversion rate optimisation except for this; The best practice you can undertake to optimise your website for conversions is to analyse your existing website data, create a hypothesis as to why you are not getting more conversions, test that hypothesis and repeat.
